Matariki is celebrated through the Month of June and July. We experience Matariki and look at how our whanau here at Kids Count Marne Road feel about it. We celebrate it and take part in the customs, prayers and ceremonies.
We also listen to individual thoughts and their understanding of Matariki.
Our kaiako work together to perform Te whangai a Hautapu, where we prepare food and send the kohukohu or the steam up into the heavens to feed the stars as an offering, thankfully Nga them for their guidance and kaitiakitanga through out the year.
Stay tuned to see more celebrations of Matariki in the coming weeks….
