Kia Ora and Welcome to Kids Count Lenore Road

We are licensed for up to 120 children, 20 of whom can be aged under 2 years, so we cater for children from when you need your child(ren) to attend a loving and nurturing environment until they graduate to school.

Kids Count Lenore mirrors the culture of its surrounding families.  With a very strong Pacifica influence, food, love and laughter abounds and our children readily adopt the centre as a second home.  We have a multitude of family and cultural events throughout the year including the graduation of our 5-year-olds.

A purpose-built childcare centre, each age has their own room, which moves from room to deck and a large outdoor play area.

For a list of services, we provide see the Services page.  We will genuinely care for your children and support their development as they evolve as the young individuals they are and to start them on their journey towards reaching their full potential.

Our Rooms

Starfish Room

From 3 months to 2 years

At Kids Count, our Starfish Room provides a warm and nurturing space for our youngest tamariki. Here, they can play, learn, and grow while developing their gross motor skills – from rolling to sitting, crawling, and beyond. Before long, they’ll be talking and taking those first exciting steps towards new adventures.

In this room, children also begin exploring communication skills, learning to recognise sounds, pitches, and facial expressions, as well as discovering the meaning behind their very first words

Our teachers create a thoughtful balance of familiar routines and new experiences, ensuring every child feels secure, supported, and ready to explore.

Stingray Room

From ages 2 -3 years.

In the Stingray Room, our toddlers begin to spread their wings and flex their muscles as they step into independence. Toilet training is a key milestone at this stage, and with gentle support, we help both children and their whānau navigate this exciting transition.

The pace of development here is incredible. Our tamariki start forming short sentences and even invent their own playful versions of language. A simple “Jamwich” might replace “jam sandwich,” while “Happy Birthday” becomes “Happy Day.” And truly, what could be more joyful than a daily greeting of “Happy Day”?

Through fun, interactive activities and games, they also explore numbers, colours, shapes, and letters, building the foundations of learning in an engaging and playful way.

Honu Room

For children aged 3 years.

In the Honu Room, children are moving from the toddler stage towards becoming big kids, almost ready for school. Our teachers nurture their curiosity, encourage problem-solving, and expand their thinking, while supporting each child to feel confident, capable, and eager to ask questions.

Many of the tamariki in this room speak more than one language and carry a strong sense of identity.

Their physical skills continue to grow, and we encourage them to take the lead in games and activities, building pride and self-confidence as they show how brightly they shine at Kids Count.

Every experience in the Honu Room is a learning opportunity. For this age group, much of that learning happens outside the classroom, where play, exploration, and discovery come together naturally.

Dolphin Room

Dolphin Room is the “Engine Room” where children become leaders & “Tuakana” of the centre ready to take on the world.  Children are encouraged to be critical thinkers & explorers working together.

We also have our “Transition to School” Programme from 4.5 to 6 years old.

From the Dolphin Room children will graduate to “Big School” and begin the next phase of their educational journey.

What our parents are saying ...

Now things are beginning to become surreal, it was just a tad emotional for me knowing that my boys will be commencing a new chapter in their journey of life.  I just cannot express how grateful I am to all you wonderful staff at Kids Count.  I'm sooh sooh gonna miss this place for it has been apart of our lives for 5yrs and a bit so not only have you all been educators for my boys you are all like our whanau. Ngā mihi mahana Kia koutou Katoa ngā kaiako me nga kaiawhina Kaimahi hoki
