Kia Ora and Welcome to Kids Count Marne Road

Kids Count Marne Road first opened in September 2012.  We are licensed for up to 117 children, 20 of whom can be aged under 2 years, so we cater for children from when you need your child(ren) to attend a loving and nurturing environment until they graduate to school.

The back drop to our very large play area is the train track which delights the children as often the train driver will blast the horn as they go past and we also have our feathered friends, the chickens who lay eggs every day that goes into the baking and meals for the children.

We also have our own indoor heated swimming pool where we conduct free swimming lessons for our older children. For a list of services we provide, see the Services page.

What makes us unique is that we as a team at Marne Road believe in the child as a capable, free, equal human being. Our philosophy reflects our burning belief in the child as able and competent, and that we, the Kaiako, merely supporting their unfolding rather than seeing the child as needing to be “filled up”. If nothing else we look into the eyes of our tamariki and say, “I believe in you”.  We believe that every child needs someone who will advocate for them, defend them, love them, hug them, talk to them and is there for them no matter what.

Respect stands for: Rich, Environment, Sensitive, Playful, Equal, Courage and our Taonga.

The respect for our children are at the forefront of our Mahi.

Hi 5's Room

For ages 4-6 years

Within our space, we emphasize the importance of providing nurturing relationships and an environment that engages our tamariki in learning.

As Kaiako, we know that tamariki learn best through their own curiosity and discovery. By observing our tamariki in our school environment, along with their friends, interacting with their surroundings, and following their instincts and impulses in a safe, educational space, our tamariki are able to craft their own education.

Exploration is an essential part of our daily activities, as well as the development of our precious tamariki. Whether we’re taking part in various play ideas, singing songs and listening to stories, taking part in transition-to-school activities, swimming in our heated pool, or celebrating special events, we’re always up to something exciting in and around our Hi 5’s room!

Hi 5’s includes our Transition to School program that ensures your child is prepared for a successful transition to school.

What our parents are saying ...

On behalf of Alex and myself (Mikaera's mum and dad) we would like to sincerely thank you for all the hard work and effort you and your staff put into making the Christmas celebrations for tamariki and whānau such a success today. The decorations were amazing, the kai was plentiful and delicious, the Santa was cool, and more importantly the hospitality was a true reflection of Manaakitanga, Whanaungatanga and Kotahitanga. A special and warm thank you to you all.
